Academic Schedule – Summer 2025

June 12 (Thu), 13 (Fri): Placement tests & orientations
For the nights of June 12, 13 and 14, HIF reserves rooms in the Hakodate Kokusai Hotel for all the participants.
June 15 (Sun): Opening ceremony. Homestay starts.

First Semester
June 16 (Mon): First semester starts.
June 28 (Sat), 29 (Sun): Overnight group trip to Onuma Quasi-National Park
July 10 (Thu): Final examination

Semester Break
July 11 (Fri) - 14 (Mon): Semester break

Second Semester
July 15 (Tue): Second semester starts.
July 25 (Fri): HIF biblio cup (book review presentation)
July 29 (Tue): Independent study fair
August 8 (Fri): Final examination
August 9 (Sat): Closing ceremony & farewell party
August 10 (Sun): Move-out day

Participants must arrive in Hakodate by noon of June 12, 2025 (JST). If your university operates on a quarter system and have a schedule conflict with the HIF program, you must let the HIF Office know before you apply.

During the homestay period (June 15 - August 10), staying out overnight is prohibited even at another student’s host family’s house or at a hotel, except for the four-day semester break.
